Cover B (art by Tim Lattie): A detailed tribute to Kenner's Classic Hero Ray packaging, with Kylie Griffin standing in as the packaged toy figure. The orange KB Toys price tag is changed to "IDW 7 Cover B." Kylie, Pagan, and a Braided Hair Ghost from The Real Ghostbusters replace the original packaging's Ray and Wrapper Ghost. The artist's name "Lattie" appears in place of "Kenner" and "Tim" replaces the "TM" mark. The grammar is slightly adjusted from "I ain't 'fraid of no ghost" to "I ain't afraid of no ghost." The packaging still reads "Action Zapping Ray with Nutrona Blaster" at the bottom, and Kylie's proton stream is purple rather than Ray's original orange. "Ghostbusters Crossing Over" replaces "The Real Ghostbusters" as the title on the package.1

- August 22, 2018: Tom Waltz posted a full page showing Peter Venkman talking to Ellen Gold.
- September 20, 2018: IDW revealed Cover A.
- September 25, 2018: Tom Waltz posted a panel featuring Janine Melnitz and Garrett Miller.
- October 3, 2018: Tom Waltz posted another full page with Peter and Ellen Gold.
- October 16, 2018: A cover, credits, and five-page preview were posted publicly.
- March 7, 2019: Luis Antonio Delgado posted an unlettered version of page 18.
Trivia
- The "What Came Before" recap page on the inside front cover makes light of recycling its opening paragraph from the prior issue, and acknowledges all major prior story beats: the ghost release in Issue #1, the call answered in Issue #3, the team shuffling in Issue #4, the encounter with Rachel Unglighter in Issue #6, the Fire Goblins trapped in Issue #6, Holtzmann's capture in Issue #5, and Ron's injury at the end of Issue #5.
- Page 1, panel 3: A Were-Chicken appears by the oven, identical to the one that appeared in Volume 1 Issue #2.
- Page 3, panel 2: The chalkboard contains several cross-continuity references, matching details from Volume 1 Issue #2: Chef Sargossa from Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Stylized Versions), Hotel de Gustav (a nod to the Gustav's Self-Service Tray from the Realistic Version), and Chickenbane Soup from The Real Ghostbusters episode "Poultrygeist." The bottom of the recipe is visible in panel 3.
- Page 4: Garrett Miller's confidence in technology is carried over directly from the Extreme Ghostbusters animated series. Peter alludes to Egon 68-E's concerns about the mixed-up teams from Issue #4.
- Page 6: Ron mentions the Proton Grenades he used in Issue #5. In panel 4, Ray's hair is miscolored blonde, a deliberate nod to animation coloring errors common in The Real Ghostbusters.
- Page 8: Luis Antonio Delgado's recurring "15" easter egg appears on the rear of one of the caravans in panel 3. Garrett uses a full proton stream on the Hungry Manitou, mirroring the climax of the Extreme Ghostbusters episode "Darkness at Noon, Part 2."
- Page 10: Ray 68-R mentions his dimension's Janine and her recurring ghostbusting appearances in The Real Ghostbusters. The two Janines had briefly met in Ghostbusters International #8.
- Page 11: Abby references poet John Keats.
- Pages 12-13: The chess set from the film "The Seventh Seal" appears in panel 2, and Egon alludes to that film and its details.
- Page 14: Death's history is noted; Death was previously trapped in a backpack by Egon's college friend Eugene Visitor and was freed in Volume 1 Issue #15.
- Page 15: The Elsinore Castle from "Strange Brew" appears in the background, as it did in Issue #4.
- Page 16: The street sign reads Kent Street, restored from "Kemp" (it had been changed back since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters Volume 2 Issue #3). Janine's car from the latter half of The Real Ghostbusters is visible. Egon 68-E alludes to the incident in "The Fly," previously referenced in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters Volume 1 Issue #1. Mike alludes to Walter Peck.
- Page 17: The Containment Unit monitor from The Real Ghostbusters episodes "When Halloween Was Forever" and "X-Mas Marks the Spot" appears on the console by Zoe. The red screens with "Sorry this sneak peeks been slimed!" behind Zoe are the default art from Diamond Publishing's The Real Ghostbusters Sticker Album sticker boxes.
- Page 19: The teams end up in the Collectors' Limbo, last seen in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters Volume 2 Issue #1. Egon references detecting Tiamat's signature back in Issue #4, page 4. The portal being hijacked is noted as previously occurring in TMNT/GB Volume 2 Issue #4 (where Tang Shen redirected it).
- Page 20: The final page is intentionally constructed to mirror Ghostbusters Get Real #3, with the antagonist appearing in giant form to all the assembled teams on the last page before the finale issue.
- Page 21: The 00-D dimension designation was first revealed in Virtual Trading Card #40 (released July 5, 2018). The memo on this page references the Ghostbusters Beyond of Dimension 00-D from Issue #6, the Headless Horseman, Central Park of 00-D, Frederick Law Olmstead (co-designer of Central Park), Rachel Unglighter, Koza'Rai, Gozer, defeating Koza'Rai in Ghostbusters: Displaced Aggression #4, Louis Tully of Dimension 00-D, and Rachel's warning to Ray from Issue #6.
- Page 22: Cover RI of Crossing Over Issue #8 is previewed here rather than Cover A. The credits pages of the Ghostbusters Crossing Over trade paperback reuse page 17, panel 4 from this issue. In the TPB reprint of Issue #7, page 4 panel 1 shows Kevin Beckman hidden in the bush at the far right.
