Scott Lobdell is a veteran comics writer. His Ghostbusters work is the four-issue IDW Publishing mini-series Displaced Aggression (2009), which he scripted across all four issues and which remains the principal contribution of his career to the franchise.
Displaced Aggression (2009)
Displaced Aggression is a four-issue mini-series published by IDW Publishing from September through December 2009. Lobdell wrote all four issues; Ilias Kyriazis served as both penciler and colorist throughout the series. Neil Uyetake lettered the series, with Tom Waltz and Chris Ryall editing.
The premise: the pan-dimensional demon lord Koza'Rai, father of Gozer, defeats the Ghostbusters and scatters them across the timestream. Peter Venkman is stranded in the American Old West of 1886; Ray Stantz ends up in Arthurian England; Egon Spengler finds himself in the far future on a Mars colony; Winston Zeddemore remains in the present, waging a one-man guerrilla war against Koza'Rai's demonic forces. A new character, Rachel Unglighter, drives much of the plot: she presents herself as a former student of Egon's who has modified the Ecto-1 (here designated the Ecto-10) for time travel, and she helps Peter retrieve the other Ghostbusters one by one. The final issue reveals that Rachel is in fact the daughter of Koza'Rai, and her sacrifice sends Koza'Rai and herself to the ghost world. Issue 4 also contains a backup story, "Working Overtime," written and drawn by Kyriazis and Michael Dialynas, following Janine Melnitz during her own displacement to 18th-century France.
