Real Ghostbusters: NOW Comics Volume 1 Issue 8

NOW Comics Vol. 1 #8 is the eighth issue of The Real Ghostbusters comic book series published by NOW Comics. Released in April 1989, the issue follows the Ghostbusters as they investigate mysterious disappearances at a Toad Land theme park and confront a group of amphibian creatures called the Deep Ones.

Cast

The principal antagonists are Nogad, The Deepest One, and the Deep Ones, a race of amphibian-like creatures. Kenneth Grahame, owner of the Toad Land theme park, serves as the client who calls in the Ghostbusters.

Plot

Kenneth Grahame, owner of a theme park called Toad Land, calls the Ghostbusters after mysterious disappearances among his customers. He believes the vanishings are linked to Nogad's scheme: adapting his customers to become like their ancestors, the Deep Ones, a race of amphibian-like creatures native to Toad Island. The Ghostbusters investigate, confront Nogad and the Deep Ones, and ultimately stop the plot, saving the missing customers.

Notes

This issue is notable for being the only entry in the NOW Comics run that altered Janine Melnitz's character design. Additionally, two panels in the original print edition show Janine without color. In the later Real Ghostbusters Omnibus Volume 1 reprint, this coloring error was corrected and Janine appears fully colored throughout.
