Ghostbusters: Tainted Love (February 2010)
Ghostbusters: Tainted Love is the second one-shot in IDW Publishing's series of holiday-themed Ghostbusters comics.1 The book was penciled and lettered by Salgood Sam, colored by Bernie Mireault, edited by Tom Waltz, and featured cover art by Salgood Sam and Nick Runge.1
The story centers on Winston Zeddemore, who meets Tiyah Clarke, a substitute teacher, after the Ghostbusters defeat a gang of ghosts at a local high school. Clarke describes a ghost haunting her apartment, and Winston makes it his mission to investigate. The haunting turns out to involve the spirit of Ballard Wright, a man who proposed to a female tenant in the same apartment unit on Valentine's Day, 1905, was turned down, and manifested as a ghost after his death in 1907. When conventional capture methods fail, Winston resolves the situation by verbally addressing Wright and convincing him to voluntarily disperse. Winston later returns to the apartment for a dinner date with Clarke.1
The comic also features Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler, and Janine Melnitz. Egon references Zuul from the first film when suggesting the ghost may be a Gatekeeper,2 and Ray consults the Occult Reference Net, a tool previously established in Ghostbusters II.3
