  • Early life and education

Corbett was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in nearby Collingswood, New Jersey, where he has noted that his first house purchase was a fixer-upper next door to his grandmother's home.1 He trained at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee,1 and landed his first professional role in the Broadway musical Nefertiti within two weeks of graduating.1

    Career

    Stage

Corbett's early professional life was rooted in theater. After Nefertiti, he played Kenickie in a production of Grease and appeared in the Broadway production of Come Back Little Sheba alongside Shirley Knight and Philip Bosco.1 He also starred in the off-Broadway production The Matinee Kids with Liz Callaway and Karen Mason.4

    Daytime television

Corbett made his television breakthrough in daytime drama. He played Michael Pavel Jr. on ABC's Ryan's Hope from 1979 to 1981, then Warren Carter on NBC's Search for Tomorrow from 1982 to 1985.1 His most prominent soap opera role was David Kimble on CBS's The Young and the Restless, which he played from 1986 to 1991.1 The scheming Kimble, notable for a storyline in which his body was never found after an apparent death, earned Corbett recognition in People magazine as "Daytime's Most Lovable Cad."5 More recently, he has appeared on CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful as Judge Evan Scott.2

    Voice acting

Corbett built a steady animation career alongside his live-action work. He voiced the characters Grimskull and Joshua Steele in the animated series Skeleton Warriors (1994-1995), and took on roles across 26 episodes of The Fantastic Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor (1996-1998).4 He appeared in Extreme Ghostbusters in 1997 and in Max Steel (2000).4 He also contributed voice work to the stop-motion animated feature ParaNorman (2012) and the animated film Hotel Transylvania (2012).4

    Live-action television and film

Beyond soap operas, Corbett guest-starred on Star Trek: The Next Generation, The King of Queens, and Zoey 101.4

    Broadcasting and production

Since 2000, Corbett has served as a host and correspondent for Extra, the syndicated entertainment news program, earning a 2014 Daytime Emmy Award for his work on the show.1 He won a second Emmy for the digital drama series Venice the Series.2 He created and executive produced Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry (four seasons on E! Network) and Mansion Hunters (Reelz Channel), and has held a development deal with Netflix.2

Corbett is also a multi-bestselling author specializing in real estate, having written three books on home buying and selling.2 He has served as a spokesperson for Trulia, Coldwell Banker, and Realtor.com, and regularly appears on media outlets including Good Day LA and The View to discuss real estate.2

    Ghostbusters

    Extreme Ghostbusters (1997)

Corbett voiced the character Chiam, a rabbinical student, in the Extreme Ghostbusters episode "The True Face of a Monster" (Production #107, Episode 3, aired September 3, 1997).3 The episode, written by Bob Skir and Marty Isenberg and directed by Rafael Rosado, centers on racist vandalism against a Jewish temple that summons a Golem.3 Corbett also appeared in the episode "Fallout" (Production #129, Episode 27, aired November 12, 1997).6
