Early life and education
Somer studied drama at Queens College in New York City, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Drama and Dramatics/Theatre Arts, completing the program between 2002 and 2006.
Career
Somer founded Lucky Elephant Media, a firm operating across entertainment, film, music, real estate, and other investment sectors. Through the company he has accumulated a range of co-executive producer and executive producer credits on both studio features and documentary productions.
His feature film credits include the Netflix drama Pieces of a Woman (2020), starring Vanessa Kirby and Shia LaBeouf, and the Netflix comedy-drama Fatherhood (2021), starring Kevin Hart.1 In 2023 he served as executive producer on JFK: What The Doctors Saw, a documentary that premiered on Paramount+ on November 14, 2023; the Lucky Elephant Media producing team on that project also included Cheryl Leib, Joseph Leib, and Joseph Marvel.2 In 2024 he received an executive producer credit on the action thriller Monkey Man, directed by and starring Dev Patel and released through Universal Pictures.3
Ghostbusters: Afterlife
Somer served as co-executive producer on Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021), the Sony Pictures/Columbia Pictures continuation of the original franchise directed by Jason Reitman and produced by Ivan Reitman.4 The film was produced under the Ghost Corps banner and released in November 2021 after delays stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.4
