Early life and training

Osborn first encountered theatre seriously at twelve years old through a theatrical re-release screening of Grease.3 His commitment to acting solidified at fifteen when he first encountered Shakespeare, an experience he later described as 'fulfilling, and moving, and beautiful.'3 That classical grounding led him to The Birmingham Conservatory for Classical Theatre, the training program affiliated with the Stratford Festival of Canada, where he gained professional experience working alongside company members in a rigorous full-rehearsal-week curriculum.3 He credits the Conservatory with instilling a discipline of specificity in performance: precise word choice, movement, and action.3

Following his Stratford work, Osborn enrolled in the MFA Professional Acting programme at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in Bristol, England, where he continued developing his classical technique.1

Career

Stratford Festival of Canada

As a company member at Stratford, Osborn accumulated a strong roster of roles in the major canon. He played Scarrus in Antony and Cleopatra (2015, also filmed for broadcast), Autolycus in The Winter's Tale, a French Soldier in King John (2015), and Tony Lumpkin in Martha Henry's production of She Stoops to Conquer, the last earning him a Best Supporting Actor nomination.34 Osborn has cited the role of Autolycus in The Winter's Tale as one he would 'spend the rest of my career chasing.'3

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School

During his MFA studies at Bristol Old Vic, Osborn performed Gloucester in Henry VI: Days of Rebellion and Angelo in Measure for Measure.1

US regional theatre

Osborn has been active in US regional stages. He played Sam Phillips in Million Dollar Quartet at Weston Playhouse and at Arkansas Repertory Theatre (2019).1 He appeared in Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story at Bucks County Playhouse and the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts (2016-17).5 Additional credits include A Midsummer Night's Dream at Colonial Theatre, The Glass Menagerie at Flat Rock Playhouse, An Actor's Carol at Cape May Stage, a workshop of Richard Nelson's Conversations in Tusculum (2024), and Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood at Alabama Shakespeare Festival (2025).5

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024)

In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Osborn appeared as a Firefighter from 1904.2 His character is part of the film's prologue sequence set at the Manhattan Adventurers Society in mid-July 1904, when Hook and Ladder Company 8 was called to the building following a paranormal event.6 The firefighters entered a frozen room inside the Society's headquarters, where a lone Fire Master had just completed a ritual to reseal the ancient spirit Garraka inside a brass orb, preventing him from escaping during a gathering at the Society.6 When the firefighters entered, they discovered the Fire Master standing in the frozen room and slowly approached her; she suddenly opened her eyes, startling them, as the orb sealed shut.6 The sequence establishes the historical background of the Garraka threat that drives the film's central conflict.6
