Filming Locations
2 min read
I recently went on a trip to New York (December 2008) and of course had to go see as much Ghostbuster stuff as I possibly could.
I dragged my girlfriend along with me, who was somewhat reluctant to see all the Ghostbusters sites, but I think she
understands where Ghostbusters stands in my heart. Haha! Anyways here we go:
New York Filming Locations
Ghostbusters Firehouse
(Outside/External Shooting Location: 14 North Moore Street, New York, NY)
-On the corner of Varick and Moore in Tribeca-
This is their firehouse's logo/station logo:
Sadly the images deteriorated over time so they no longer have the photos from the shooting days on the Firehouse
but they still have the sign!
They had it decked out with Christmas lights too: (We went back that night)
Best way of getting to the Firehouse is take the 1 Train to the Franklin Street stop and walk up Varick 1 block
but you can also get off at the Canal Street stop on the A,C, or E train and walk down Varick two blocks.
Dana Barret's Apartment Building aka 55 Central Park West
(Outside/External Shooting Location: 55 Central Park West, New York, NY)
-Between West 66th and West 65th street on Central Park West-
Where the terror dog jumped over into central park (across the street from Dana's building)
The best way to get here is the Lincoln Center Station on the 1 Train, get off walk down 66th to
Central Park West and turn right.
Columbia University
-Library and Main Quad Area-
-Many scenes happened here-
Get back on the at the Lincoln Center Station on the 1 Line and ride it uptown to 116th Street/Columbia University,
enter in at any of the four gated entrances on each side of the campus, no college I.D. needed. These areas are
at the center of the campus and are huge, not to hard find, I bumped into a few Ghostheads while I was there.
New York Public Library
-On 5th Ave between 40th and 42nd Street-
Take the B,D,F, or V to 42nd/Bryant Park, walk 1 block to 5th Ave and turn right. Or you could get off at
5th Ave station on the 7 train and you're there.
Rockefeller Center
