Plot
At the Starbright Coffeehouse near New York City College, three workers named Wanda, Bess, and Celine are dismissed and disrespected by the popular crowd. Using occult knowledge, they summon Cernunnos, a powerful spirit entity who offers them transmutating powers in exchange for finding converts to join their circle. Their first victim is Tina Bell, a student who publicly humiliated Bess, transformed into a troll-like hag. The next is Chip Hanson, a football player who snubbed Bess's affections, changed into a tree-creature. Each transformation registers as a Level 5 Manifestation.
Back at the Firehouse, Egon Spengler analyzes ecto-matter from Tina's apartment and identifies a trans-dimensional molecular destabilizing element consistent with meta-morphological realignment, suggesting an indirect source controlling an entity rather than a direct haunting. Kylie Griffin, researching her term paper on the witches of Macbeth, identifies the perpetrator from a book titled "Powers of Darkness" as Cernunnos, whose modus operandi is transmutation through human conduits. The witches, deciding that Kylie's knowledge of the occult makes her a natural recruit, begin courting her. Kylie declines, and the team follows a lead to a Delt House party, where the frat boys have already been turned into rats. The witches ambush the team, blasting Garrett Miller and Roland Jackson unconscious, and Kylie escapes with them.
Frustrated that Kylie cannot be persuaded, Wanda decides to use Eduardo Rivera as the fourth believer instead, luring him to a rooftop under the guise of a romantic meeting. Eduardo unknowingly completes the circle, and Cernunnos crosses fully into the physical plane in his true monstrous form, immediately turning the three witches into hag-like servants. The full team arrives and discovers that Proton Streams drain Cernunnos of power, but their ghost trap's containment vortex has been fried by the earlier blast. Roland Jackson theorizes that the containment vortex can be recreated by reforming the circle of four believers around the trap. The witches and Eduardo join hands around the trap, generating the vortex, and Cernunnos is captured. All of his victims including Tina Bell, Chip Hanson, and the Delt House frat boys revert to normal.
Ghosts and Entities
Cernunnos
Cernunnos is the main antagonist of the episode. In Celtic mythology, Cernunnos is an underworld deity who surrounds himself with animals. In the episode, he appears as a hovering legless humanoid figure with unusual eye sockets and can work through human conduits before fully crossing over. To manifest entirely in the physical plane he requires at least four true believers arranged in a mystic circle. His powers include flight, transmutation, telekinesis, and energy blasts channeled through his acolytes. His transmutations register as Level 5 Manifestations on the PKE Meter. Once trapped, all of his transmutation effects are reversed.
In Neopaganism, the Horned God is referred to as Cernunnos, specifically in Gardnerian Wicca.
Wanda, Celine, and Bess
Wanda, Celine, and Bess are the three witches who summon Cernunnos. Wanda is the dominant personality and is primarily motivated by a desire for social status rather than justice. Celine serves as a pragmatic middle voice. Bess is the most reluctant member throughout and is ultimately the one who declares they never should have trusted Cernunnos. At the episode's end all three are restored to normal, and Bess, having appreciated Eduardo's sincere interest in her, gives him her phone number.

Trivia
- One of mine, very reminiscent of "The Craft." - Shannon Muir (story editor, Extreme Ghostbusters). Shannon Muir's comment refers to the 1996 teen witch horror film. The on-screen writing credit goes to Robin Bernheim.
- Yes, Linda Blair from THE EXORCIST is indeed in that episode. If I remember right, she played Wanda. - Shannon Muir
- The episode title references the Eagles' 1972 song "Witchy Woman."
- Kylie and Eduardo are enrolled in the same "Women in Literature" three-credit course at New York City College. Kylie's term paper is on the Three Witches from Macbeth, which sets up her quick identification of Cernunnos.
- Cernunnos cites the first names of the four Beatles (John, Paul, George, and Ringo) as an example of the power a circle of four can achieve.
- Janine Melnitz mentions having spent 12 years pursuing a romance with Egon, one of the more specific data points about her history with him across the series.
- Egon references his fungus-cultivation hobby when reacting to the pile of dirty dishes in the Firehouse kitchen.
- The Women in Literature professor is established as having been a prior victim of the Sphinx (from an earlier episode).
- A minor recurring character named Jeremy sits a row behind Eduardo and Kylie in the Women in Literature course.
- When tricked into joining the witches' circle, Eduardo references the games Simon Says and Twister, and later calls Cernunnos "the Wizard of Oz."
- Based on the characters' scheduling details in the episode, the story likely takes place during the second week of November.
