The Ghostbusters are best known for a handful of signature tools: the Proton Pack, the PKE Meter, the Ghost Trap, and the Ecto-1. Around those props, the films put a wider array of gear in the team's hands. Most of it was real-world hardware: cameras, light meters, gas detectors, and consumer electronics used as-is or dressed up to read as scientific or paranormal-investigation equipment. This page collects those secondary items, grouped by the film they appear in. Each entry links to its own page with the make, model, and screen use.

For the full equipment catalog, see Equipment.

Ghostbusters (1984)

The original film leaned on repurposed scientific and broadcast hardware to sell the idea of a team of working parapsychologists.

  • Panasonic PK-750 Camcorder: used by all three founding Ghostbusters, either at the New York Public Library or during their television commercial.
  • Bacharach Sniffer: a gas-leak detector carried by Peter Venkman during the initial sweep of Dana Barrett's apartment.
  • Radio Shack PC-4 Calculator: used primarily by Egon Spengler.
  • Radiacmeter IM-179 Gamma Rate Meter: used by Egon during the rooftop sequence.

Ghostbusters II (1989)

The sequel brought in a fresh set of meters, cameras, and consumer gadgets, several tied to the team's investigation of the museum and the slime beneath the city.

  • Monitor 4: a radiation survey meter used by Egon at the start of the film and later seen on Ray Stantz's belt during the montage.
  • Sound Level Meter: used by both Ray and Egon.
  • K.U.D. Meter: used by Winston Zeddemore during the museum sweep.
  • Globuscope Camera: a panoramic camera used by Ray during the museum sweep.
  • JVC Camcorder: carried by Ray during the museum sweep.
  • NES Advantage Game Pad: the "pilot controls" used to steer the Statue of Liberty.
  • Sony Walkman: used to play music that activated the positively charged slime and made the statue walk.
  • Toastmaster Toaster: the dancing toaster animated by the mood slime.
