At San Diego Comic-Con, MONDO announced an exciting new direction for their acclaimed Real Ghostbusters stylized 1:12 scale toy line: the Peoplebusters collection. Drawing inspiration from the beloved Real Ghostbusters cartoon episode "Flip Side," this upcoming line will feature the team's ghostly counterparts from the alternate dimension of Boo York, including Flip-Egon, Flip-Peter, Flip-Ray, and Flip-Winston (Deadmore), alongside their human mascot companion. MONDO's signature attention to detail and stylization promises another must-have addition to any Ghostbusters collector's shelf. Fans can expect the same high-quality articulation and design that has made MONDO's previous Ghostbusters offerings fan favorites.
According to ScreenRant, they also announced a 1:12 scale Ecto-1 to coincide with their figures. Far from a simple static display piece, the Ecto-1 is a fully featured collectible with rolling wheels, functioning doors and latches, lights, and accompanying sounds, all at a scale of 1:12, making it approximately 24 inches long. It is also fully compatible with Mondo's existing Real Ghostbusters figures, meaning the team can actually be placed inside the vehicle. As Mondo's Senior Director of Creative and Product Development, Hector Arce, put it: "the goal was to create a display piece that encourages play."
Mondo did a deep dive into Ecto-1-centric episodes of the show to uncover never-before-seen details and inspire new accessories. One standout addition comes from the episode "Follow that Hearse," in which the Ecto-1 is possessed by a monstrous Earth Spirit. Mondo recreated this moment with a swappable hood that allows fans to display the car in its possessed form, complete with tentacles, and they've even included a figure of the Earth Spirit itself, marking the first time the character has ever been made into a collectible.
The Ecto-1 also comes with alternate looks from the show and includes the Ecto-3 sidecar as an additional accessory, rounding out what is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious and detailed Ghostbusters vehicles ever produced at this scale.
