It's been four months since
Hasbro first teased an Ecto-1-related project for autumn 2024, and now, as part of New York Comic Con, the company has fully revealed the Ghostbusters Plasma Series Ectomobile (Anniversary Edition). This 22.5-inch-long replica is scaled to fit the 6-inch Plasma Series figures that Hasbro has released in previous years, celebrating both the 40th anniversary of the original Ghostbusters film and the 35th anniversary of Ghostbusters II. The model pays tribute to one of cinema’s most iconic vehicles, bringing it to life with incredible detail that die-hard fans and collectors are sure to appreciate.
The project is available in two versions. The base model, priced at $324.99/£324.99, includes the classic Ecto-1, along with action figures of Slimer and Eleanor Twitty, the Library Ghost. For fans looking to take it to the next level, the deluxe model at $399.99/£399.99 features a Ghostbusters II expansion kit. This kit transforms the Ecto-1 into the Ecto-1A, complete with new roof elements, decals, and accessories like Proton Packs, Slime Blower equipment, and the four Ghostbusters in their charcoal-grey uniforms. Additional items, such as a slimed toaster and a hot beverage thermal mug, add even more charm and detail to the set.
The campaign runs from October 18 to December 2, 2024, and needs 12,000 backers to go into production. If the project reaches this goal within the first two weeks, backers will unlock the Early Bird Accountant’s Special: a Ghostbuster Louis Tully action figure complete with accessories like his Proton Pack, Plasma Stream, Ghost Trap, and P.K.E. Meter. This limited-time offer encourages early participation, adding value to the project for dedicated Ghostbusters fans who jump in quickly.
Designed with input from GHOST CORPS to ensure exceptional movie accuracy, this is the first-ever 6-inch-scale Ectomobile Hasbro has produced. The deluxe model stands out with intricate features like functioning lights, a highly detailed engine and interior, and removable roof racks for the Ecto-1A. Even the smallest details, such as the dashboard equipment and fold-down jump seats, have been faithfully recreated to deliver an authentic Ghostbusters experience. Fans can expect every piece of this set to match the iconic look of the vehicles seen in Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II.
