Story
The issue reprints the "Day of the Dead" story from Ghostbusters (IDW) Volume 2 #10 in full. Special Agent Melanie Ortiz returns to New York City to help the Ghostbusters pursue a ghost going to extreme lengths to drive a family away from their Brooklyn home, timed to the Day of the Dead holiday. For the complete story breakdown, cast of characters, and trivia, see the Volume 2 #10 page.
Publication history
IDW announced the Halloween ComicFest issue on June 20, 2017. Erik Burnham confirmed at that time that the comic would be a reprinting of Ghostbusters Volume 2 Issue #10 rather than new material.
The cover artwork reused the original regular cover from Volume 2 Issue #10 (2013), illustrated by Dan Schoening and colored by Luis Antonio Delgado.
Back-matter and additional pages
The issue contains several pages of back-matter not present in the original Volume 2 #10 printing. Notable details:
- Credits page: Reuses an image of Santa Muerte originally from Volume 2 Issue #10, page 8, panel 1.
- Page 21: Reproduces the retailer incentive (RI) cover from Volume 2 Issue #10.
- Page 22: Reproduces the RI cover from Volume 2 Issue #14.
- Page 24: Includes an advertisement for the Ghostbusters: Interdimensional Cross-Rip hardcover listing a September 2017 release date. The release date later shifted to October 11, 2017. The ad also describes the collection as the "third oversized hardcover," which is technically inaccurate: the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters crossover story was also published in an oversized hardcover format before this volume.
- Page 27: Includes an advertisement for the Ghostbusters 101: Everyone Answers The Call trade paperback listing a November 2017 release date. That release was later pushed to December 20, 2017.
- Page 28: Contains an ad for Stranger Things Season 2, whose initial promotional images featured the cast in Ghostbusters costumes for Halloween.
