Early life
Henderson was born in Michigan and raised in Massachusetts. She earned a degree in Media Studies from Emerson College in Boston, a school that has produced a notable concentration of film and television professionals.
After graduating, she moved to New York City and took a receptionist position on the final season of Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn (Comedy Central, 2004), where she was drawn into the stand-up comedy world. That connection led to her next role as assistant to writer-producer Neal Brennan during the last season of Chappelle's Show (Comedy Central, 2003-2004). She has cited both early jobs as formative introductions to the mechanics of television production.1
Career
Universal Pictures and Chernin Entertainment
Henderson relocated to Los Angeles and joined Universal Pictures in an assistant capacity around 2008. She moved to Chernin Entertainment, the production company founded by former Fox executive Peter Chernin, where she was among the company's early employees. Working up from assistant to Creative Executive and then Director of Development, she built close relationships with director Paul Feig and star Melissa McCarthy through their collaboration there.
Her most significant credit from this period was The Heat (2013), a buddy-cop comedy directed by Feig and starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. Henderson served as co-producer. The film grossed $230 million worldwide and became the top-grossing domestic comedy of 2013, cementing the Feig-McCarthy-Henderson working relationship that would carry forward.2
She also served as a researcher on What Would Jesus Buy? (2007), a documentary directed by Morgan Spurlock.
Feigco Entertainment
Around 2012 to 2013, Henderson co-founded Feigco Entertainment alongside Paul Feig, serving as co-president of the company. Her tenure at Feigco produced some of the most commercially successful studio comedies of the mid-2010s.
Spy (2015), a spy-action comedy starring Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, and Jude Law, grossed over $235 million worldwide and earned Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominations. Henderson produced the film, as well as executive producing the Yahoo Screen series Other Space (2015), for which she oversaw seven episodes.
She executive produced Ghostbusters (2016), the all-female reboot of the franchise, which grossed over $229 million worldwide. Details on that production are covered below.
Henderson continued to develop Feigco's slate through the late 2010s. A Simple Favor (2018), a thriller-comedy starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, grossed nearly $100 million worldwide on a modest budget and earned strong reviews. Last Christmas (2019), a romantic comedy starring Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding, earned $123.4 million globally.
In 2018, Henderson led Feigco's expansion from film into television. Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist (NBC/Peacock, 2020-2021), a musical-drama series starring Jane Levy, was among the company's television credits; the show won an Emmy Award. She also executive produced the drama Holler (2020), starring Jessica Barden.
In June 2019, Henderson was hired by WarnerMedia as Executive Vice President of Original Feature Films for its then-nascent streaming platform, which launched as HBO Max in 2020. In the role, she reported to Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, and oversaw development and production of original films spanning genres from family and YA to adult drama and comedy. Sarah Aubrey described Henderson's "refined taste" as a key asset when announcing the hire.3
Apple Original Films
In April 2021, Henderson joined Apple Studios as a Feature Executive, reporting to Matt Dentler, head of Apple Original Films, and based in Los Angeles. Over a three-year tenure she championed several high-profile theatrical films for the platform: Wolfs (2024), a crime-comedy directed by Jon Watts and starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney; Blitz (2024), a wartime drama from Steve McQueen; and the Formula One racing drama F1 (2025), directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Brad Pitt.4
Open Invite Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios
In March 2024, Henderson and actor Ryan Gosling co-founded General Admission, a production company that subsequently rebranded as Open Invite Entertainment. The venture signed a three-year, first-look film deal with Amazon MGM Studios, with a focus on, in Henderson's words, "bold theatrical and streaming events" across genres.5
Projects in development at Open Invite Entertainment include Love of Your Life, film rights acquired by Amazon MGM Studios in October 2024 with Henderson and Gosling producing, and Tough Guys, an action comedy to star Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell.5
Ghostbusters
Ghostbusters: Answer the Call (2016)
Henderson served as executive producer on Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, the 2016 reboot directed by Paul Feig and starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. The project was a natural extension of the Feigco Entertainment working relationship she and Feig had built across The Heat and Spy.
Henderson was present at promotional events for the film, including an appearance at Ghost Corps, the production's fan-engagement initiative, where fans were given access to the production offices. She was one of several executive producers on the film alongside Amy Pascal and Ivan Reitman, among others.
The film grossed over $229 million worldwide against a reported production budget of $144 million.
