Previously on Shanty-Town Buccaneers... Way back in the Summer of '02 I began working at ye olde Bald Mountain Cinema in the cozy little town of Blairsville. This was the beginning...had I not been told of the joys this place held (free candy and the occasional water gun fight in the lobby) I probably never would have jumped onto the BMC ship. Now keep in mind that this was not your average run of the mill theater..or cinema as the hip kids call them. This was a 3 house facility that had aged about as well as Nicholas Cage's acting ability (which isnt well in my opinion). I started out as a lowly concession worker alongside various stoners and women with mustaches. And so there i was, destined for greatness the day i set fire to the popcorn machine. During this time my love for movies grew as did the nonsense living inside of my own head. I encountered it all...Kids fucking anywhere and everywhere they could, ridiculous owners, thieving employees, rude customers, Daddys girls, early morning kid shows, throwing trophies off the roof, good, bad, and terrible relationships, taking posters at will and adding them to my growing collection, opening weekends, Bob's pus filled leg, the Kingdom of Heaven brain-wrap incident, stalker girls, people hiding poop under the plunger in the men's room, Steven having to clean up said poop on countless occasions, playing urinal cake frisbee in the lobby...and most importantly i encountered life...my life...i had found it in this small run down theater that most people probably never thought twice about. Generations of employees came and went but I also encountered people that would become friends for years to come...I could even almost say family. These were some of the best times of my life... Fast forward to September '06...What do Talladega Nights, Snakes on a Plane and World Trade Center equal? A recipe for tragedy as these were the final 3 movies to be shown that fateful week...the fact that the bulb in one of the projectors blew was also not a good factor to that equation. I felt honored to be the last standing Assistant Manager at that place...As i left the parking lot on that rainy morning for the last time I felt at peace...but...This is not the end.... Now luckily when i wasnt taking part in scandalous behavior at the theater I was "designing" clothing and selling it on eBay. This started in '03 from a chance encounter of seeing someones crappily made HIM logo jacket on eBay. So what did i do? I made an equally crappy if not crappier HIM jacket and tossed it on eBay and sold it for a ridiculous amount of money. So after that the obsession with scribbling on jackets and selling them for a profit began and it continues to this day. So after the theater closed i finally was able to devote all my time to "designing clothing for the youth of the world to parade around in". Also I have not flown a kite in many years...
Now as far as Ghostbusters is concerned...one of the first action figures I remember getting as a kid was the Real Ghostbusters Ray Stantz figure which is still one of the best figures ever. I used to draw a lot as a kid too and a lot of my earliest drawings were ridiculous stick figures of the Ghostbusters. My love for anything Ghostbusters has stuck with me through the years and it probably will for the rest of my life.
