Ghostbusters II (Gameboy)

2 min read

Ghostbusters II for the Game Boy is a handheld port of HAL Laboratory's New Ghostbusters II video game, the action title originally built for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Activision published the Game Boy version in 1990, with HAL Laboratory handling the development.

The game adapts the same gameplay as its NES parent, but two things changed in the move to Nintendo's monochrome handheld. The character of Louis was dropped from the playable roster, and the color was gone, since the Game Boy is a monochrome system.

In the United States, the cartridge shipped with two different cover designs. One features the two-finger No-Ghost logo set against a black background. The other shows a group shot of the Ghostbusters against a blue background.
