Plot
To stop Slimer from watching TV before bed, Peter convinces him to listen to a good book instead. Slimer chooses the story of "Little Red Riding Hood" and they settle in the clubhouse to re-imagine the tale with several familiar faces.
Slimer casts himself as Little Green Riding Hood, heading through the woods with a picnic basket. He eats the entire contents of the basket along the way and picks lemons, one of which falls on him. Professor Dweeb plays the scientific Big Bad Wolf and Elizabeth plays his Little Bad Wolf sidekick. The two villains take a shortcut to grandma's house, arriving just in time to see Chilly, cast as the hippest grandmother around, leave for a karate lesson. Chilly kicks a tree and it lands on Dweeb.
Slimer arrives at the cottage and notices something is off. Dweeb chases Slimer through the house until Peter, playing the Hunter, arrives with a cream pie. He throws it at Dweeb but Slimer intercepts and eats it. Dweeb slams the door on Peter, but Slimer grabs the lemons he picked earlier and tosses them into Dweeb's mouth. With Dweeb distracted, Slimer ties him to a weight-lifting machine. Dweeb eventually frees himself and chases Slimer, but cannot keep up. Slimer scoops up Elizabeth and she is flung outside. Chilly and Peter return, and Chilly puts her freshly learned Big Bad Wolf flipping lesson to use, sending Dweeb flying. All ends happily.
Back in the clubhouse, Slimer demands more stories and shoves a whole stack of books at Peter. Peter relents and picks up "Jack and the Beanstalk," which leads directly into the follow-up episode "Slimer and the Beanstalk."

- While trying to talk Slimer into reading, Peter holds up a copy of the novel Wuthering Heights.
- When Peter arrives as the Hunter, Slimer breaks the fourth wall and points out that this is a Saturday morning cartoon, so there cannot be any guns.
- This episode leads directly into "Slimer and the Beanstalk": after the story ends, Peter is handed a stack of books and picks up "Jack and the Beanstalk" as the next tale.
