Related to Ghostbusters

Mueller's first involvement with the franchise was as the writer of Ghostbusters: The Supernatural Spectacular, the novelization of the first Ghostbusters movie. Because he had written the novelization, J. Michael Straczynski brought him onto The Real Ghostbusters, where he ended up credited for writing or co-writing 23 episodes. He worked on the show for all seven seasons, frequently as a story editor and writer who, at his own request, went uncredited many times. He also wrote two episodes of Extreme Ghostbusters.

Early career

As a young adult, Mueller was stationed aboard a United States Coast Guard cutter on the Pacific coast.

Trivia

During his college years, Mueller lived in a haunted dormitory. People got hurt and an exorcism was held; he experienced enough to believe "something's going on."

Mueller reworked his script for The Spirit of Aunt Lois with Arsenio Hall during a voice recording session after the script was criticized for a lack of humor.1

In 35th Anniversary: The Real Ghostbusters, the Glorp Factory's street location is named in part after Richard Mueller.
