The Ectomobile

The Ectomobiles are the standard form of transportation for the Ghostbusters. Each is built from a 1959 Cadillac Miller Meteor Ambulance/Hearse combination car with a white and red paint job and white walled tires with chromed hubcaps. An interior rack stores the 4 proton packs, and a roof rack contains various detectors such as radar, sensor mics, infrared, and a satellite microwave uplink. Ray Stantz bought the used vehicle in the first Ghostbusters film at a cost of $4,800.Ecto-1Ecto-1aAn upgraded version of the Ecto-1, seen only in Ghostbusters II, which included more technical equipment placed on the roof of the chassis. Most noticeably this upgrade included digital announcement boards on each side of the vehicle's roof, broadcasting Ghostbuster advertisements, specials, and their phone number. Also, the logo was updated on the doors and back entrance of the ambulance.
