Ectomobile

I have a pretty good feeling I will never have a Caddy to actually put my roof rack on because of availability and the fact that although my better half is pretty good about my GB geekness, she would never be ok with the car in the driveway. Soooo...I will improvise and add the roof rack in my basement as best I can. First thing is to buy the lights, then wire them, add the siren sound somehow, and hopefully add it to a light switch in my basement. The idea is solid...but we will see how it goes. 4/6/11, The Whelen HR DF-14/28 strobe light was my first purchase oddly enough. It seems to be the hardest to come by and I got pretty lucky to find it on a air salvage site. I purchased the clean lens separately. I have 1 red lens to sell if anyone is interested. 4/12/11, I received my lightbar! It is a sealed beam instead of the halogen rotators, but I'm not going to sweat it too much. There are rotating lights on either side of a diamond shaped mirror. 4/19/11, I received my pair of blue deck lights! They are very nice and are as accurate as I am probably looking to get for these. They are manufactured by Deitz. 5/23/11. I received my Federal Model 19 beacon. It is in really great condition!
5/31/11. I received my Federal C5GB siren, 2 movie accurate blue domes for my lightbar, and AeroDynic lightbar mounting brackes (which I believe are movie accurate). I know in the pictures that the grill louvres are upside down, I will fix that before I mount them. The base on the siren is not correct. I plan to send it to the company that I purchased my beacon in order to have the base switched out and to have it rechromed. 11/20/11 (roughly). Received my more movie accurate C5G siren base...not sure if the one in the movie is custom made....anyway, along with the siren base came the rechromed siren housing and grill . I plugged everything into my car battery and everything worked great! I have to buy a 33 amp power supply and build a board to control the flashing deck lights....on top of figuring out how to mount everyhing... 2/12/12. Converted my XL9000 into a movie accurate XL5000 lightbar. I originally bought the sealed beam version of this bar not knowing the difference at the time. I didn't think it would bother me..but I thought wrong....so I bought halogen lights and corrected my mistake. Hopefully the change will also positively impact the juice it takes to run the bar.
