The original Ghost Trap pedals were identified to have a ball catch latch in the middle area. This was commonly confused with an acorn nut, but the original function was to have the pedal clip into the Trap. This is very similar to the original brass catch latches that were used. In later movies, the mistaken acorn nut was used as it was believed to be used.
