Proton Pack

This is my Ghostbusters 2 proton pack built using Norm's plans. I stuck strickly to his plans with only a few exceptions. The only changes I made were adding the bottom block and injector tubes receiving module (which don't appear on his plans) and I added another Cosmetic Plating piece which appears on the real prop, but not on his plans. This piece holds the Filler Plug in place. It's missing the crank knob (I'm looking for one) and the Clippard valve seen here is a bottle of White Out I used to improvise. I won a best costume award last week at an 80's party at a conference for work. Since the last time I uploaded photos of my proton pack, I've put in more work on it. At the time, I rushed to finish it as much as possible to attend a 1980's party in June. Since then, I've attached the mouse pads for the cosmetic plating around the cyclotron. I've added all the red wires, including the 1/4" split loom tubing. I've attached my makeshift "Clippard flow control valve" made from a 35mm film canister with the cap from a bottle of White Out attached. I've also constructed the Proton Gun or particle thrower which I had not even begun at the time of the last photos. I've also elected to redo my N-Filter. The original one was made from a can of Pringles potato chips as Norm's plans suggest. I found the can did not work well when I drilled the holes in the sides and it felt flimsy. I've reconstructed my N-filter using a plastic bottle from some coffee creamer. Looks nicer, and it's much sturdier. The verdict? This thing is heavy and quite sturdy. I chose Norm's plans thinking it would be cheaper and easier than some of the other plans. If I had it to do over again, I'd just have done the vacu-formed pack and affixed it to an aluminum motherboard. Much easier than fabricating everything! But, I'm happy with the result.
