Proton Pack

This pack is a commission I purchased from Hole in the Ground Productions in Pennsylvania. It is a GB1 style pack - albeit with a few minor inconsistencies. The motherboard is made of wood attached to a genuine ALICE frame. Most of the rest of the body is resin cast, as well as the thrower (though the power cell housing and some of the accent parts on the thrower are carved from wood). The shock mount, legris elbows, and Clippard valves are all resin, and the barrel of the thrower is fixed in place (i.e. no extend/contract action). The stickers are all vinyl - and I understand one to be missing from the N-filter. All that said, I find the pack is very sturdy and exceedingly attractive! As for the electronics, the pack does include lights and sound. The lights are all powered by a 9 volt battery in the thrower housing - which is very easy to access. The cyclotron and power cell light up in sync with one another at power on, as controlled from the thrower. The lights on the thrower dance as desired, but the prominent light that should reside in the vent housing is curiously absent (I hope to add one later). Also worth noting is that the firing LED is just one color (white). The sound module is powered by 3 AAA batteries on the motherboard, and stays 'active' even when the thrower control is switched off (taking the batteries out is the only way to disengage the sound module entirely). Overall, sound quality is good - although a bit quiet. Sounds don't overlap with one another either, but that's not a huge issue for me. Sounds included are: power on, firing, vent, hum, theme song, and power down. UPDATE 5/30/16: I just replaced the resin cast clippard and bellows replicas with the real thing as purchased from the store here at GB Fans. The nice thing is that the existing mounts were perfect, so I didn't have to do any surgery to get the new gear to fit. I also replaced some of the old paper stickers with metallic vinyl stickers, also purchased from here. New pics to be posted soon... and I plan to update more in the coming months!
