Yeah those weird dimpled nippled PPD discs look AWFUL. I really want to love this all they have to do is fix that and the V hook

What bugs me is the V hook is still on backwards. On the Haslab, the V hook was installed backwards at the factory even though they had it on correctly in the prototype pics. I hope they fix it.

So...Was not expecting that. I had thought maybe a future Haslab coming out they might do the pack and goggles or something ,but to be frank this is great news. The more packs in the market the less likely the scalpers will make and endless amount and since most hero prop builders are out of the game now...or getting sued for not ya know making packs they took money for I really liked seeing this.

As for the "look" of it. Its a haslab pack repainted with some new greebles or fresh painted ones. So...its likely gonna be a flat black and still have some weathering. I've heard people asking about it's cyclotron and I don't see that changing from the 3 lights per pens we have. The listing has it in the description that it has 25 led's. if you have a haslab then count and it's 25. The USB C override is nice but hopefully they keep the added empty switch under the crank box for those that use keep alives with it.

Price is good. No extra haslab goodies but honestly...lol I didn't use any of those, mini puffs, stand, slime or marshmallow goop..eh....overall this was a nice thing to see. Just pre order, no Hasbro haslab make time window. Much less time...I hope.

the V Hook is backwards?? I never noticed on my back before I had to sell it. Did people fix it pretty easy?

Yep it’s backwards on all the finished products. If you look at the prototype pictures on the Haslab website it’s shown the right way as intended. With the entirely flat part on the outside as one would expect.

Pretty easy to fix if you take your pack apart and unbolt it from inside. Then you might have to re countersink the holes

I don't have the Haslab pack but I've helped re-holster a few Haslab wands during events, never realised that the hook was backwards! I just thought it was poorly designed (which is probably why several of my franchise members have since upgraded to real V-Hooks).

It was right there in the 2021 prototype photos all this time:

By the time of the 2022 Hasbro Pulse livestream it had been flipped backwards:

And as you pointed out, it's backwards on the new 84 pack:

Yeah I really hope they fix that, and the weird PPD discs / dimples / target symbols. Those should be flat with just a tiny nub in the middle. Or a screw hole.

I’m trying to make as much noise about this as I can but I don’t know how to contact Hasbro. If they just fixed those things and maybe make the clipboard larger, it’d be perfect.

Apparently it won’t come with Alice frame mounting hardware?? So how do we get that?

I can try and pass along concerns to my contacts. Just to be clear it's:
-Is there a stand?
=Is there a hardware kit for the Alice frame?
-Is there a connection hose included?
-V-hook is installed backwards
-The PPD discs right of the ribbon cable should be "flat with just a tiny nub in the middle. Or a screw hole."

Anything else, anyone?

Well, prop community on Etsy should have a hardware kit. AJ Quick will if this doesn't come with a kit.

The prototype has Afterlife/Frozen Empire - style strain reliefs on some of the replica pneumatic hoses... While I imagine this wouldn't be a dealbreaker, it's not accurate to how they looked in 1984.

The red label on the Gear Box should be located more centrally, rather than veering to the left-hand-side of that part of the Pack.

The lower section of the grey elbow on the HGA looks far too short.

The mounting screws should be Cap-Head-style with washers underneath. Silver button-head-style screws were a detail first found in the 1989 Proton Packs.

-cut off date if it hasn't been announced
-will there be new slime attatchments ?
-will the pack be able to communicate with the PKE meter and Trap?
It would be great to set the PKE Meter and Trap in the vacinity of the pack and have them all turn on at once.

If it makes anyone feel better they used Syrian relief on the OG packs in afterlife which is sort of a retconned version of the original packs.

I also think strain reliefs look better than 1/4” split loom.

Does anyone have pics of the movie props that have discs like that?

From what I researched I couldn’t find any however it’s been a pretty common build for DIY packs in the community. So I assume it must have come from an actual pack?

It would be nice for all the “Legris elbows” to have a uniform look. I realize they just removed parts in the HGA one, but it is easy enough to address by using the same piece through the pack.

I do realize given the mass production nature of this product that even small changes may be difficult to implement, but if they can why not point it out?

Like the previous Spengler Pack, the 1984 Plasma Series pack does not come with the thrower. The Hasbro Pack wasn't designed to work with the Mattel thrower, so as standard they aren't compatible... And I don't know if anyone has found a way to make them work together.
#5005079
There is a coupler part that would work with the hose. While it wouldn't make the Matty collector rifle compatible, it could be a temporary stand in until you can afford the Hasbro rifle. You can probably find the coupler on thingiverse, or similar sites.

None whatsoever. The way it was constructed originally wouldn’t really make sense to have them like they. God I hope Hasbro isn’t copying some bad fan made version.

I think it was on the left side on the semi hero packs for GB2. But the entire point of the 84 pack is that it’s based on GB1 so I hope they fix that and don’t say “well you can see it like that on our archive pack” or something.

I think macks factory wand alone is around $1500... Ill cut $300 pack , some slack
I’ve had a lot of people tell me to literally not say anything. Be happy etc. but it makes no sense. It’s not done yet so why not point out flaws they can fix?

Is the Mack’s wand really going to cost over a grand? Omg no wonder I knew not to even look at prices yet lol.

The only good part about macks factory slow release, is i don't think about the overall cost.

I want Hasbro to go cheap on the parts I'm going to upgrade anyways. I'm going to put a real clippard valve, I want Hasbro to give me a piece of black plastic. I think a low entry point benefit everyone.

Just out of curiosity has anyone built the Macks Factory Pack? I heard about it years ago yet never saw any updates on it. Not a single video.

From my understanding if you want a proton pack today you got 3 options...Hasbro/Haslab Afterlife packs, then the options to mod them, Spirit Halloween and the options to mod it, or outright hire someone for a custom pack...which could cost you Thousands of dollars for just one, or build one yourself, which if you dont have the tools or the talent (or budget for) could be a total unmitigated disaster if you dont know what your doing.

I'll glady pay 300 dollars for the 84 pack, 150 (I think) for an 84 wand, slap a Alice Pack on it, make a few minor adjustments, maybe upgrade the hose, and call it a day.

Hell id get 4 of them with wands and minor mods, figure out how to build a custom display cabinet for them, and have a hell of a display setup for around 2500 dollars.

Either way, we got so many options nowadays, its. a wonderful time to be a ghostbusters fan. For over 35 years if you wanted a replica pack, you had to build it yourself or custom buy one from someone who knew how to do it for you.

Today, you got so many choices, its like whats your budget and how crazy do you want to get with it in terms of detail and materials.

I remember as a kid, before i got my Kenner The Real Ghostbusters set, using a old school back pack, some string and a cleaned out Pepsi bottle for my first proton pack and duct taping A Broken VHS Tape onto a cheep dollar store skateboard for my first trap.

Now sitting next to me on my desk is my Haslab Spengler Proton pack and wand and i still cant believe i own one over 2 years later and im trying to budget when i can pre oder an 84 one!

it doesn't have to be 100% perfect. Im medically diagnosed OCD, i got it bad, and over the years when it comes to toys and collectables, ive learned close enough for the price, is good enough for me lol.

But that said...the more i pay, the more i want it to be as accurate as possible. If i drop say 500 per pack (with Wand) from hasbro...and its got minor issues like the clippard valve 1:1 scale or what ever i can live with that.

But if i dropped 2K on a custom pack and the soundboard made light saber sounds when i turned it on and it was made out of cheep easily deniable metal and looked more like parts from an old vaccume cleaner and looked nothing like what the seller was showing, id be furious!
