I searched for this and didn't find anything.

Why does all the weird stuff happen to

? Turned into a baby, turned into a witch, turned into a chicken, turned into a "ghost", etc.

One speculation I think has some merit: as Egon is the smartest one, having something to take him "off the table" gives the others an opportunity to use their brains.

Plus Egon's curiosity is a great excuse to get him into trouble.

Fritz just knocked it outta the park narratively speaking. I'd also add Egon's persona is more like that of the straight-man in a comedy sense making him a prime choice for weird transformations. Because he's usually so dry and stoic, you get a more dramatic change when he becomes...whatever.

Star Trek always did the same thing with Spock and Data.
