Very interesting. Perhaps Garaka is just a truncated form of Angaraka. After doing a little googling , it appears that Angaraka is a byname of Mangala, a Hindu god similar to the Roman god Mars (and Greek Ares). He is associated with anger, war, and the colour red.
And although not explicitly associated with fire, he is sometimes described as "flame-red" in color, so maybe, taking artistic liberty in a Hollywood movie, he could manifest in a fiery, elemental form. And what do you fight fire with? Well, if you're a firefighter working in a firehouse you fight fires with water, but, more specifically, you could also use ice. So maybe there's a connection there?...
But setting the fire thing aside, a Hindu god could also make sense if we have the Indian actor Kumail in the cast (and we still don't know his role, do we?). Could Kumail be Garaka himself, or one of his cultists?
