I'm an assistant principal in an elementary school; every time I sneak into a classroom and draw Slimer on the board everybody knows who it is.

If I draw the no ghost logo, Staypuft, a Proton Pack, nobody knows. If I draw an Ecto 1, that is also recognized.

Regardless of my drawing skills with expo markers,

Slimer and TMNT's seem to be universal amongst K thru 4th graders.

I'm not opposed to Slimer appearing as a secondary or tertiary castmember, just not as the sole focus... I think he's better as the ghost that's seen haunting the firehouse, rather than the Scooby-Doo-esque mascot he ended up becoming.
