TLDR version: deadbeat buyer.

Where to start. My name is Dan Wymbs and I do 3D printing and commissions. I've been a member here for years, though not very active. Anyway, at the end of last year, I joined the Northern California Ghostbusters discord since I befriended a couple guys from there through Spirits Unleashed and I really enjoy their youtube videos. That's where I met Mr. Sexton. Seemed like an okay guy and around February we started discussing a customized REAL Ghostbusters proton pack (Frozen Empire influenced, honestly a pretty cool idea... ANYWAY).

Due to the price, I offered a payment plan where he paid half up front and the second half a month later. First payment was made, I started printing, and we continued talking about stuff he wanted in the future: a trap to go with the pack, a compact thrower from Frozen Empire, a slime blower, and an RGB PKE meter. I finished the thrower ahead of time, shipped it off and he sent proof on ownership once he got it along with build progress pics. Shortly after, I offered to sell him the compact thrower and slime blower I have on hand as I had fallen out of love with them. For the slime blower, he would pay me via PayPal and I'd hand it off to him when he came out this way for Ghostbusters Day. During the last week of March, I contacted him to make sure we were still good for payment on the 30th as per our agreement for the pack and he confirmed on the 20th he'd have payment for the 30th or 31st depending when the check cleared.

This didn't happen.

On the 25th, he tells me that he and his mother are suddenly moving from Texas to Tennessee and couldn't pay me. Now, this part is on me. I had, foolishly, began printing his pack already under the assumption that he'd stick to his word. I figured I'd get a jump on the pack so that he'd have it for early April and would have PLENTY of time to assemble it so he'd have it for Ghostbusters Day. After discussing the situation with several friends, they recommended I request a payment of some kind as good faith, which, to his credit, he did in the form of paying for the compact thrower. I did not ship it immediately as he did not have his new address on hand and would contact me in the near future.

A week and a half pass and he finally gets back to me on April 12th using a new Discord account. He's now in Ohio after, allegedly getting scammed about the new house and also robbed. Sus, but whatever. He passes on his new address and I ship the compact thrower. We continue to talk about the slime blower, Ghostbusters day and future commissions... but mostly the logistics of eventually getting the slime blower to him as his travel plans keep changing. We end up settling on him giving me cash in person as he'd be staying at a hotel in New Jersey not far from where I live.

April 28th he confirms he's received the compact thrower and is ready to send off the final $200... via cash app. Our transactions have been via pay pal which we had confirmed a few times in our conversations. I remind him of this and then it's radio silence. I send him a few more messages informing him that I feel like he's ghosting me again like he did during his move. After a week of no contact, I end our agreement on May 3rd.

On May 11th, someone from the Northern California Ghostbusters discord informs me he's posting under the moniker "Dusty Spengler" on the Ghostbusters Fans Worldwide facebook page. The post in question is an AI generated flightsuit with the name tag "Sexton Jr." I called him out on that post and wrote about our interactions as I felt the people of that group should know what kind of person he is. He claimed to be a cousin, however "Dusty" and Edward look identical. Not similar, not vaguely alike, identical. Not fully trusting my own judgement due to my bias, I showed several people and even ran the images through facial comparison software. "They" are the same person. As of the Facebook posting a few days ago, I have had ZERO interaction with him.

Some additional information: during our early conversations while he was still using his original Discord name (Edwardraysexton), it came out that he had been trying to sell a set of Macks Factory grips. He collected the money, ghosted the buyer, then resold the grips to someone else. When this came out he was banned from the NorCalGB discord. He was then later banned AGAIN from the same discord after I informed them that he had joined under his second Discord name (his mom's account, allegedly).

This is a LONG ordeal, I know and I can provide screenshots of the entire conversation upon request.

I have an admin role on the GPStar Facebook group. Back in March, I was contacted by one of our users regarding Edward Ray Sexton Jr. In February, Edward had attempted to post a for-sale ad in our group for a pair of Mack's Factory wand grips. As soon as I saw the post I removed it for breaking two of our group rules (1. General modding posts unrelated to GPStar belong in general modding groups; 2. No sales posts without first reaching out to an admin). Unfortunately, the user who reached out to me saw the post before I had a chance to remove it, and reached out to Edward via DM to purchase the grips.

They paid on February 27th. On March 3, Edward's mom was in the hospital. On March 10, Edward was "down with a really bad virus." Oh March 15, they were "shipping out tomorrow". On March 17, they would send the tracking number shortly because "they just got out of the shower". On the evening of March 18, they were "sleeping" but "will have it [tomorrow] morning...[their] mom is really sick." On March 23, they "have had packages take forever [to be delivered] before" but magically couldn't provide a tracking number to show it had actually been shipped.

I then reached out to Edward the same day, March 23rd, interested in purchasing their Mack's grips. The very same ones that they had already sold to our user and had purportedly already shipped out. Magically, Edward still had them for sale, ready to ship out immediately with freebies!

I then told them that since they clearly still had the grips on hand, they should actually ship them out to the person who had already purchased them. Instead of doing that, Edward then reached out to the user they had scammed, said they would "send it out Wednesday at the latest," and told them to, quote, "stop slandering my name". Not shockingly, they never shipped the grips.

This user and his alternate account "Dusty Spengler" have been permanently banned from the GPStar Facebook group for scamming members of our group. Whether you are a buyer or a seller, stay far, far, far away from this individual.
