My first thought:
Marge: "You ruined a perfectly good jacket!"
Homer: "Correction, two perfectly good jackts!"

Take a look, it's very interesting:

"An original Dr. Egon Spengler Ghostbusters jumpsuit worn by writer/actor Harold Ramis in the 1989 supernatural comedy sequel, Ghostbusters 2. The Ghostbusters are a group of scientists who establish a paranormal exterminator service in a retired firehouse. With an array of technological ghost trapping and containing equipment, the Ghostbusters signature uniform is a khaki jumpsuit bearing their name and company patch.

This one piece jumpsuit is made from a tan cotton/poly blend material and features a zip up front for the actor to wear. This incredible piece of Ghostbusters history features various pockets on the sleeve areas, as well as the pants, with an adjustable waist via two sections of Velcro. There is a round Ghostbusters 2 patch on the right sleeve, and on the left chest area is a black and red name patch that is sewn onto the uniform with the name "Spengler" embroidered, and the name Spengler is also written in black ink inside the tag of the costume. There is also a uniform tag on the inside of the chest area which features the name Harold Ramis handwritten in black ink.

The jumpsuits in Ghostubsters 2 were created specifically for this film, and are a slightly revised style from that seen in the first film.

This incredible piece of cinematic wardrobe also features a pair of black rubber gloves, and a pair of worn grey elbow pads that belonged to the character Louis Tully, played by actor Rick Moranis. These items are accompanied by a Columbia Pictures wardrobe tag that reads “Gloves & Pads R. Moranis."

In addition to being worn by Ramis throughout the film, it is believed that this uniform was worn by Louis Tully when he dawns Spengler's jumpsuit to help save the Ghostbusters at the end of the film from the evil Vigo.

This costume is in overall excellent condition. It is very rare to find jumpsuits from the film with the original patches intact.

This item comes with a Prop Store Certificate of Authenticity."

Is it possible that this was a screen-used suit, and someone ironed a logo onto the back after the fact?

I recall the tan GB2 suits going on tour with the Ecto-1A to promote the second film when it came out. The car would show up at Hardee's, and a couple of people wore the suits sans proton packs while posing for photos with the car.

Perhaps someone in the marketing department grabbed a stunt suit and ironed on a Butterwick transfer for the purposes of advertising for the film when people didn't know what the logo meant.

Vincenzo330 wrote: November 24th, 2012, 11:57 am I'm curious about the back of the suit. A year or two ago I was approached to purchase a suit from GB1 lineage, up close you could very clearly see that it was production made but there was a problem with it. As you can see, it had a giant GB logo on the back.

I spoke to a few different folks who worked on the film and they all said that they'd never seen a suit like it being used during the film but that it may have been a sample suit (concept suit) that was ultimately passed on by the costume department.

It could also be possible that maybe a couple of the suits were modified for use at the 1984 premier for event staff to wear? I recently saw via some vintage Entertainment Tonight footage that they had Ecto-1 on display there, so maybe some of the other props/costumes were also present?
