This past 3 year period, we got 2 games instead of just 1 during the lead up to and during Frozen Empire and the 40th, SU and Rise of the Ghost Lord to play and complain about. ;)

I really wish we knew what was happening over at Illfonic since the layoffs. Sure, they have a MILD social media presence, but they haven't had any real interaction with the communities like they used to. Honestly, at this point, it feels like there's 2 flickering lights on that's allowing one graphic artist and a janitor to keep working over there.

Or the one graphic artist/janitor... it's a surprise they're still offering anything after basically 6 months of silence.

But after this reskin, there's only the Necrowatcher left I believe so they could wait on that until December-ish.

I keep hoping beyond hope we get a bug fix/balance patch in the future, but that hope is RAPIDLY fading. I used to champion for the game a TON back in the day. I was super active in their discord (so much so that the admins were using my instructions to linking accounts instead of their own in-house ones). I used to play this game daily, but now it feels like a chore to fire it up once a month in its current state. Hell, when they decided it was just easier to remove the ability to possess cameras instead of fixing or removing the problematic ones was a real blow.

I keep hoping for some group of fans to really crack open the game and make some fan-run servers, but the two groups I knew of that were working on this had to dissolve due to... well, let's just call it current events.

I just want to be able to mess with the gear stats. The game is basically back to needing a single build to do everything. There's no real difference in how different builds perform. The PKE flatline bug has been around since they implemented gear hot swapping and it's ALMOST game breaking since even the PKE overlay won't tell you the elevation of what you're tracking. I'm not even going to bring up the MANY visual issues with the various pack/wand shell interactions.

I kind of gave up on it after the whole Boogieman reveal. Very disappointed there was no story behind it. At this point I just use it to mess around with the avatar designs. I think the last time I really played was after they released the Zeddemore gear. Crossing the streams SU doesn't get sunset. At least I only bought the cosmetics pack. Shit, if they offered season pass with rewards they might have hung on a bit longer.

Aren't the online games peer to peer? The game should keep working if support ends or the company goes under.

Oof, the Boogieman... yeah, it was disappointing, but remember, by that time the game was already a couple years in, most of the team were dedicated to other projects, and that was all BEFORE the layoffs. We were never going to get more story, that would've cost far too much especially by that point, but a bounty would've been nice. There was also a bunch of cosmetics we were supposed to get with it, but those got silently axed.

I think there's something that's server side. Maybe it has something to do with setting up the connection handshakes or something, but they DEFINITELY have servers. Back when we were getting version revision updates, the closer to patch day, the buggier the game got. It was always dismissed by the community team as almost superstition until one live stream when the game was near unplayable as an update was a day or two away. "Huh... okay... maybe there is something to this" It was a fun and satisfying moment of validation.

Wow, that was a tangent. Look, I loved this game and I have a LOT of fond memories because of it, but man, with a little more time and money put into it, it could've been in it's current holding pattern in a much better state.

True, but meeting some contract requirements like gear, and the remote control trap are easier with bots as everyone you play with fight to the trap the ghost.

I've unlocked it twice after hitting tenure just for the cosmetic purposes. In real life I don't see how someone can hang it off their uniform belts like that. If it lasted longer it would be more fun to mess around with.

yeah, I even have a hard time believing that Gear Cart fits in the back of Ecto-1. Aside from having a tech support person on-site with an equipment cart to hold stuff like an RTV, it would have to be some sort of component to hang on the pack but even then would through off the weight/center of balance unless it's centered. It's sort of the same logic of why Kylie in EGB packs their team's trap on her back and uses a miniaturized pack and thrower alternative in the Proton Pistol.

Necrolords available until August 18. But you have to unlock the Twitch Drop bundles for Necrohowler (Shriek, Chomp, Bramble), Necroglutton (Muncher, Spew, Heap), and Necrogeist (Zappy, Gnasher, Toxie) in order, one every hour watched, which culminates in the Necrolords.

Illfonic announced no more DLCs are in development but the game will remain playable.

From Samhain to the Boogieman, our journey has been filled with so many special spectral memories following our launch in 2022. However, as our Containment Unit reaches capacity, we wanted to share that most of our team has shifted its focus away from creating new content for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed for the time being.

Maps had been off the table for a WHILE, but the AI? I'm convinced it's a dice roll on what you get. I've done private matches where the AI ghost was a menace. I've had AI busters that seemed unstoppable busting machines... but more often than not, your AI busters are smooth brained wastes of space shooting at nothing or standing still flipping between their thrower and PKE meter or ghosts just lazily floating around the map...
