This is an item that has been on my mind for a while and I just have not had the bandwidth to take it on. I recall someone else made them at some point but I have not seen them available. The candle can be seen as one of several candles in the background at Ray’s Occult in Frozen Empire.

I recreated the artwork after several hours (and lots of room for interpretation), it’s not fully screen accurate but I feel it is pretty close. Next came a trip to the store to buy a candle. I then had to rescale the image to have it print at the right size to fit onto the candle. Forgive the watermarks, but having been ripped off on other projects I’m being cautious.

I have ordered custom white transfer labels from the scaled file that should be arriving this week, once I confirm that they fit properly I can place a bigger order for more labels to make more candles. I am hoping the final product will look very similar to what is seen on screen, which I can then add to my Ray’s Occult Books display.

Here is a sample of the second candle, the print is a little large, but the final decal size has been adjusted to match the first one. I expect I to receive my custom decals later this week, they will be all white as they appear in the screen grabs.

Here is the final result as well as a shot of the final artwork. I modified the artwork slightly after I had ordered the transfers, but such is life. Any future candles will have the revised artwork. Thanks for following along on this quick sidequest!

Some further background for those that are interested:
The replica of the more well known brown candle is seen on the shelf behind Ray next to books and the jarred hand. The artwork is based on a woodcut contained in "The Shepardes Kalender," an English edition of a 1490s French almanac published in Paris as the Compost et Kalendrier de Bergiers. The topics covered in different versions of the publication included poetry, health advice, astrological information, calendars, and religious instructions. This illustration depicts a skeleton and indicates the planetary influences on different parts of the human body, a concept that was common in medieval and renaissance medicine and astrology. Note that the text in the image states: ”Luna behodeth th theheade" (The Moon oversees the head), “Menus the eares" (Venus oversees the ears), and “Sol the barte" (The Sun oversees the heart).

The lesser known replica of the red candle is seen in the background when Ray examines the box of artifacts from Nadeem and is also seen on a shelf by the window in the YHS set walkthrough. The artwork is based on an etching titled "Geraamte van een mens" (Skeleton of a Human Being) by Jan Luyken, designed by Cornelis van Dyk, and published by Jan Claesz ten Hoor in Amsterdam around 1680. The original illustration is part of a larger work, likely an anatomical study or a text on osteology. The skeleton is labeled with letters that would have corresponded to anatomical parts in the accompanying text. The scene includes a coffin being carried in the background and a church, suggesting themes of mortality and the brevity of life. The title "EEN-MENSCH" translates to "A Human Being," emphasizing the universal nature of death.
