Hi all!
I just finished my custom pedal build to work with the Spirit trap (viewtopic.php?t=50189)
and got my HasLab 2 in the box.
i appreciate deeply what everyone does for this community, and know what we work to do to make things as accurate as possible.
And I went down a rabbit hole with screen accuracy.
I pored over this site and the GB reference library.
Here's what I've found:
There are 5 distinct traps seen in GB1.
the ballroom trap
the hotel lobby trap
the winston hire trap
the twinkie trap
the yellow rod trap
However, what we can see does not always give a full view of the trap and pedal.
Knowing that there were different physical production models of the traps for different purposes, some assumptions are made. I am eager to learn, and if my conclusions are highly questionable, speak up!
The ballroom trap is unique in that the loom has red tape, the red sticker is not present under the handle, and the sticker on the bottom is not present.
The lobby trap is unique in that is also has red tape, but the 2 stickers are present.
The winston hire trap is unique in that it does not have red tape, but the top sticker is present.
A physical trap has been identified that has the remnants of the top sticker, and some views can make it appear to be the silver/white sticker under the handle on the HasLab trap. I have not seen a screen verified image of this decal, nor on any physical models. I think this decal in that position is not accurate.
The 4th trap is the yellow rod trap does not have a top or back sticker seen, but does have red tape. This appears to match the ballroom trap, except for the distinctly not-red rods not he side. Some speculate these are actually silver, like GB2. I strongly disagree.
The 5th trap seen is during the twinkie conversation. It has the same features as the ballroom trap, but the rods aren't seen, which makes it hard to verify is this is the ballroom trap, the yellow rod trap, or a 6th trap.
There are 2 GB 2 traps. A 3rd is also present, but I believe this to be the same as the others, except missing decals; I do not think this is a unique 3rd variation of the trap.
The GB2 trap has: silver side rods, a silver side knob, no top sticker, no bottom sticker, and black electrical tape on the loom.
The only variation within the GB2 traps are the decals on the front plate with the 4 knobs. These decals are not seen on any GB1 trap.
That's it. 6 traps to pick from when you mod your traps to be accurate. 4 GB1 and 2 GB2.
As for the pedal, there is a distinct GB1 and GB2.
For simplicities sake, I'll list the differences in the GB2 pedal.
There is no sticker on the top of the relay.
The sticker on that side box is centered, rather than on the upper left.
One pin relay is a black box, rather than the grey piece.
The d-sub is grey, not black.
There is a black pin connector attached to the ribbon cable and grey d-sub; this piece is not on the GB1 pedal- the ribbon cable inserts directly into the d-sub.
The yellow and red wire connect to their fittings with a grey and red ring, respectively.
The foster is centered; in GB1 it is lower.
The banjo is angled.
That all being said, I'm modding the HasLab to be GB2 and my custom/Spirit to be GB1 Lobby trap. Since the HasLab is weathered and has the front decals, it made sense for this to be a later model; and that the pedal has the GB2 style ribbon cable pins. And I'm going to make my Rubies/Walmart the yellow rod.
