Would seem like a thing that someone would take pictures of.
There are only about ten reference photos that have surfaced unfortunately, and although it was on display at Sony HQ this year no-one seems to have taken more photos of it, at least not ones that have surfaced yet!

I haven't seen them and you have my curiosity. Where are these other photos at, or can they be posted here? might be help for others.

I'll see about nagging Stuart to do an album for them in the Ghostbusters Reference Library when I see him this weekend. If not I'll stick them on imgur and post them up here.

I can't stop thinking about this stupid box. So I've written some arduino code that does the following.

When turned on the red illuminated toggle light comes on and the orange antenna light starts flickering like as if its a HDD light. This is completely made-up functionality in the absence of anything better.

When the left metal toggle is flicked the amber light goes solid and the red light blinks 1 per second. This is how we see it in the video where Adam Savage is touring the set.

When the left and right toggle are switched the red light goes solid and the green light illuminates.

When only the right toggle is switched the green light is on but red is off.

I've uploaded it to tinkercad here for people's perusal. I haven't had the time to actually wire this up for real.

I’m thinking now that this is what the original prop builder did with the LEDs.

I’ve ordered myself another Arduino nano, I thought I had one but I was wrong, and I’ll be wiring up a proper little circuit soon enough.

Circuit wired up. Used clear cliplite clf280 lenses with coloured 5mm LEDs pushed inside. I think this is going to look good but I didn’t have any batteries to power the arduino so that’ll have to wait until Monday.

I really want to build some of these for our team as pack charging stations. By using a current sensor board (I usually use an INA219 but there's others out there), I can easily detect when the pack is charging vs finished charging and change the indicator lamps on the front. Everyone in our team has a slightly different setup but the concept should be the same. Might even go with ESP8266 boards so they can be connected to WiFi and send me a notification on my phone when my pack is fully charged

(All of this is the easy part, finding an (affordable) Australian source for the components is the bigger challenge).

If you can't get parts easily over there I'm happy to ship some over for you. I sent two sets worth to Austin in the US a couple of months ago.

I’ve finished* my proton charging unit. I replaced the cliplites for the larger ones that stick out rather than the flush ones. It has an arduino inside which controls the lighting effects and a battery pack to power it. It also has a separate usb powerbank to be able to charge devices via the conduit cables.

When you switch on the device via the on/off switch and the two toggles are up then it goes to a sort of idle state where the antenna indicator flickers. If you flip down the left toggle then the “charging” red light blinks. If you then flip down the right the lights go solid red and green. If the left toggle goes back up the green stays in. If you time it right with the toggles you can make the LEDs do weird stuff where the code that sets the blinking timings end up transitioning to one of the other LEDs but that’s a b̶u̶g̶ feature of my programming.

It’s by far the most impractical powerbank I now own haha.

* nobody is ever FINISHED finished but it’s good enough.
