I'm still hoping Hasbro will do their own unboxed/rundown. Love Adam Savage, but keeping him on task when he's excited is like herding cats.

I'm wondering if it's possible to reinforce the pedal so it can withstand an average adult stomp or if it'd make more sense to build one from scratch with that in mind from the get go. I'm really hoping we see start seeing these by the end of the month.

no ghost knocking feature? this is really a shame, i hoped they added it :blush: haslab team said in the past that the trap and pke would be jam packed with functionalities, easter eggs etc. i can't believe that they didn't knew all the functions of the matty trap and that they forgot the ghost knocking feature which is one of the preferred of the users

To me it looks like a great product. I was hoping for maybe a little more interoperability between pke and trap, but still both look great.

The trap is a real step up from Matty, and all the functionality, the 3 switch positions the fact that the bar graph can be manipulated, the different sounds etc. It looks like they really packed in everything they could in that device which really only has a few switches and a simple bargraph and led.

Its awesome!|

It appears to have a rumble motor so the knocking effect is kinda there I guess.
I don't know, I think I actually prefer this as its a solid device as opposed to the rear axle of the Matty which moved alot, the Matty you had to turn on and off a few times to align the rear axle so the trap sat flat on say a glass table, or else it was unbalanced. This just appears to be a solid device. I prefer this.

Also the length of the hose, much more in line with the movies.

After 15 years this is finally gonna dethrone the Matty as the ultimate ghost trap. All things considered us fans are so very lucky to have had this line by Hasbro Haslab, the wand (including GBTVG video game functionality), pack, trap and PKE. It's really amazing how a toy company took on the task of creating these hyper realistic 1:1 props. Especially the fidelity and how Hasbro actually listened to fans and adjusted the product. Couldn't wish for more really.

I guess the ultimate experience for a fan would be to take some arduinos and make some goggles with built in augmented reality, get the pke to send out a ghost signal, have the goggles locate the spectre in 3d space, show a stream animation as you fire the wand (microphone pickup?) show the trap in AR as you roll it out, the stream as you fire, and capture the ghost. All shown in AR through the goggles. Wonder if any fan will actually try to build a system like that.

You can clearly hear and see the rumble motor in action in the video. Norman and Adam even mention it rumbling/shaking. I'm very much looking forward to both trap and PKE, especially seeing how bright the lights of the trap really are. Still not happy about the bargraph in general and the yellow LED always on...it's just not right to the slimer trapping. But maybe there is a setting where it's true to GB1. I was hesitant to watch it first, but I'm confident it won't spoil the fun for me once I get my hands on it.

Oh yeah this is miles ahead of the matty trap. Anyway we have to wait to receive it to experiment and try all features and discover all easter eggs, unless someone doesn't make a video before

If it has the rumble motor i think that the ghost knocking feature should be there. Anyway haslab showed the trap months ago and the engineer said that you can switch between GB1 and GB2 modes

Is there a hidden functionality in the trap that has not been mentioned by Hasbro or reviewed by anyone?

The reason I think that is because of the weird component opposite the yellow LED on the bar graph.

It's a very shiny hemisphere. It looks like some sort of IR infrared receiver or a movement camera? Like the crossing the streams functionality on the old Matty wands. I may be imagining things but that part looks quite specific and not like a normal molded plastic part. I believe it's also not on any of the screen used traps (GB1, GB2, AF, don't know about FE)

What do you all think?

That's insane :)

But going back to the weird part on this Haslab trap. I looked at the blueprint stills from Savage's video and nothing is mentioned about the mystery hemisphere.

But in a way, rare Easter Eggs have been part of the prop legacy on these products. The Matty trap for example had weird functionality that would be enabled every 150 activations. If, like me, you had this thing just sitting there and turned it on and off once every few weeks there were weird sound effects and functionality you would only experience once every few years literally. No other product had a mystery about it like this.

One step up from that for Haslab would be functionality that would not even be documented anywhere and would just be there for you to find out.

I'm wondering the same, none of the traps in Afterlife or Frozen Empire have this dome (not even the RTV or the Drone), and the first prototype of the Haslab had a big screw there that many people called out as inaccurate.
Checking videos of the final production prototype showed off to the public a few months ago, the dome is there but never talked about.
Intriguing. It has to be for something or it wouldn't be there.

I think that at the moment is too soon to know all the secrets and features of the trap, we have to wait ours to arrive or someone on YT which will receive it sooner and make a very detailed video trying everything to find all secrets

Yeah, that's what it looks like most. Lets speculate what it could be for. If it's an IR sensor is it a receiver only or also a transmitter? Is it maybe something like the audio jack on the old Matty wand, a component they added thinking they'd do a pack in the future.

Could this be a part installed with a future product in mind? Ecto goggles? (heck does the PKE have an IR transmitter on it anywhere?)

If it's a receiver it means the trap does something in response to a signal from another product. But in universe the functionality of the trap is operated by the user (pedal) not anything autonomous. The only autonomous thing could be shaking or sound effects? But it never does that in response to anything/another tool, it just does it at random after a capture. Very intriguing.

If it's a sensor, wouldn't it make the most sense for it to be paired with the PKE Meter it came with? Over the past months, numerous people on social media have expressed hope for a connected function between the two. Such a pairing would explain why these two seemingly unrelated products were packaged together as 'Two in the Box.' My bet is, as I think you've suggested, squeezing the trigger on the PKE will make the trap shake and vibrate. Fingers crossed!

I'm skeptical that it's there for connectivity between gear especially this late in the game so to speak. What I'm hoping for is that it's a receiver for a wireless activation trigger. I mean, they already mentioned there's plenty of space for NOT installing a smoke system, so why not have this IR sensor in place for the fandom tech gurus to interact with?

That would be a bold move to sacrifice screen accuracy for an optional wireless functionality that the vast majority of people would never use. Keeping it hidden inside with a dedicated plug on the PCB to allow easy installation of an IR sensor would have been more than enough to please those interested in using a remote control.

Thinking logically, what makes most sense to me is that it (could be) a motion sensor that plays various sound effects when a human is in close proximity. But that depends on the time out of these things. If it's 5 minutes like the pack then a human is always going to be close to it, so a play pattern of having someone be far away and then close doesn't make the most sense.

Next best scenario is that it's something built in readiness for a future product (which can only be the Ecto goggles), but I can't figure out how a sensor on the trap would interact in a play pattern with any future goggles.

That dome is definitely -something- though. I can't imagine that shiny part, that looks so much like a sensor of sorts, being something meaningless or just a plastic greebly.

Edit: Creatively, the simplest explanation to me is that the device doesn't have a time out. It is always on and plays sound effects when it detects a person in close proximity. But I have no idea how that fits into toy manufacturing regulations and legality.

Or is it a simple light sensor that calibrates the bright internal white LED's according to ambient light to conserve the battery power? Then again, I don't believe LED's change amps depending on how dim they are. Man I'm so confused right now.
