I have a Carter industries CWU-27/P Flight suit and I'm looking to make it as screen accurate as possible.

With regard to the left arm pocket flap, does anyone have any recommendation as to the best way to remove it without breaking all the stitching?

I can't really see any option but to unpick the whole pocket to get to the flap stitches but that is going to mean a lot of restitching to put the pocket back to normal. What do people recommend?

Cut the flap as close as poss? Or fully unpick and remove it, then restitch?

I have two Carter flightsuits I picked up cheap at a local surplus store. I just cut the flaps off, then trimmed what was left as close as possible with a small pair of scissors from my college dissecting kit. With the small scissors, I was able to get it cut so short you can't tell there was ever a flap there.

Good news: i removed the flap and the velcro.

Bad news: As I suspected, when cutting the flap out, the stiching underneath that was holding the pocket in place came out. So i need to stitch that back together because I won't be able to just leave it. Velcro bit doesn't look too bad.
