-"What in Samhain Just Happened?!"
The earliest easter egg reference I can think of in relation to The Video Game was in the "What in Samhain Just Happened?!" one shot. The Spider Witch is on the variant cover. She was a boss in the game.
-"Ghostbusters: Infestation"
The Containment Unit is based on the one from The Real Ghostbusters. In The Video Game, a new Containment Unit was sort of mesh between the GB1 and the RGB one in design but it got opened towards the end of the game. So it's inferred, the next unit built by Egon and Ray is this one seen in Infestation.
-VOLUME ONE
-Issue #1
The first example of The Video Game not being entirely canon was displayed in the Ongoing Series Volume 1 Issue #1, Winston does not have his history doctorate like he does in the game. Instead, it was later revealed he was given an honorary doctorate and is studying law just in case the GBs go out of business again.
Winston and Janine are visited by a younger version of Alan Crendall, who was the leader of the new team of GBs in Sanctum of Slime. He's a nephew of Janosz Poha from GB2.
As of the events of The Video Game, Slimer was on the loose. Unclear if he was recaptured and escaped again or was loose all these years between game and comic.
When Peter and Winston battle Slimer at the end, Peter mentions a score to settle. This is a nod to when he was slimed in the first movie and in The Video Game.
The back up story has a few references to The Video Game. PCOC was an oversight group formed by the city to keep an eye on the GBs. They mention Jock Mulligan was the mayor during the game and possessed by the principal villain, Ivo Shandor. They mention the insurance payouts the city had to pay in relation to the damage caused by the GBs who are bonded city contractors as of the game. One of the photos is the first indication Slimer is still being kept in the Paranormal Containment Research Tank, a carry over from the game. Walter Peck was the head of PCOC in the game and refers to when he was possessed in the museum level.
-Issue #2
As an easter egg, one of the room numbers by Winston at the start is 1221. That's room Spider Witch used at the Sedgewick in the game.
In the game, it was revealed the Vigo painting was confiscated by the GBs and resides in the Firehouse near Janine's desk. It first appears in this issue partially.
Peter alludes to the Natural History Museum's World of Gozer exhibit from the game. It was a center point of the game, where Shandor manipulated things and a big paranormal shockwave erupted from the museum and jump started all the paranormal activity in the story.
When Ray and Egon investigate the kitchen in the Wandering Hills house, on the chalkboard there's a nod to Chef Sargossa from the stylized version of the game (PS2, Wii) and Hotel de Gustav (an object from it could be collected) from the realistic. And the phantom cake on the table is from the stylized version.
-Issue #3
When Ron shoots pool in the bar, he mentions having applied for a franchise but was rejected. The idea of franchises came up in the first movie after the trio left the bank but it was referenced again at the start of The Video Game. A museum guard saw a new GB commercial which mentioned franchise applications were available and at the end of the game, the Rookie is offered the chance to lead up his own. More on that later.
Egon refers to Stay Puft as "Marshmallow Avatar." The avatar term was coined in Ghostbusters: The Video Game
One of the billboards in Times Square references "Stay Puft The Musical." This was mentioned by Sedgewick patrons at the first Sedgewick Hotel mission in Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Realistic Versions).
When the GBs fight the Terror Bear, Peter makes light of all the options for the Proton Pack like the experimental version used in Ghostbusters: The Video Game - besides the particle stream there was a slime blower option, boson darts, dark matter, meson collider options. Egon refers to the Rookie and his experimental Proton Pack then states the pack needs venting like in Ghostbusters: The Video Game. The Boson pack Egon uses in itself is a nod to the experimental pack. It was too unstable so not one to give up, Egon made the Boson dart option into a new pack used occasionally in the ongoing series.
At the end, when they gather around the book, the blue gun by Peter looks to be the Plasma Inductor from Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime
In the PCOC section, Peter makes his own notes like he did with the Tobin's Spirit Guide entries from Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Stylized Versions). The Further Notes clarifies what Egon's pack in the main story was and refers to Boson Darts from The Video Game
-Issue #4
Peter refers to the Rookie and his victory over Stay Puft in the Times Square level of Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Stay Puft was the boss of this level (2nd one overall in the game).
Jock Mulligan, mayor during the game, shows up on one of Peck's speed dial options on his phone.
The PCOC file is Video Game oriented. The article in the upper left mentions the Ghostbusters hiring three new hands - Maddie Collins, Chad Fuller, and Bryan Welsh. These are names created by the PCOC writer/artist Tristan Jones - Maddie for the Female Rookie, Chad for the Stylized version of Rookie, and Bryan for the Realistic version. So here we see a mix of versions of the game incorporated into this canon. "The Architect" is mentioned. This is Ivo Shandor's title revealed in the game. A photo and file on the Marshmallow Mini from The Video Game can be seen. These were spawn generated by Stay Puft in the Times Square level.
-Issue #5
Two of the storefronts in Fantastic Land have nods to Ivo Shandor and Sargassi, two boss ghosts in the game.
A lot of collectible artifacts from the game show up in Ray's Occult. The bottom half of the Ritual Mask of Bad Advice, Portrait of G. Sedgewick, Spider Witch is on the store's calendar, Swiss Death Clock can be seen by the door, Featherwell's Stalking Chair near Ray and the Cursed Musket of Cecil Starkey is near Ray
During the airplane ride, The Church of Gozer Songbook, another collectible, is in the stack of books on the plane trip.
The PCOC file refers to the events of Ghostbusters: The Video Game and Black Slime. Black Slime was a major component of the game, used by the Cult of Gozer to generate portals and allow all sorts of entities to cross over.
-Issue #6

On Egon's white board, there's photos from PCOC files of past issues and photos of Mandala nodes from the game. These were used by the Cult to channel P.K.E.
Winston brings up how Egon hardly slept. This also came up in the library level of the game. Egon mentioned he's had time to make prototypes due to an ongoing experiment where he sleeps an average of 14 minutes a day.
Egon uses Belascu shaving cream referencing Unruly Beard of V. Belascu a collectible from the game. Later on in the Tobin story, it's revealed Tobin once met with Vladimir Belascu.
-Issue #9
Mayor seems to be visually based on version of Mulligan from Stylized version which Dan Schoening, the main artist on comic, contributed to but was uncredited
In the Laura Parr back up story, Peter mentions the Rookie from the Realistic Versions and the two Rookies from the Stylized Versions of Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Peter also brings up franchising for the Ghostbusters and asks why it hasn't become so widespread yet.
-Issue #11

In the band's flashback, on the shelf behind the drummer is the Singing Slime - another collectible.
To the left of Peter in the DJ's room on the board is a photograph of the Possessed Bell-Bottom Jeans, another collectible.
In the back up story, Peter discovers the Slime Blower was stuck on the Slime Tether. This was a setting from Ghostbusters: The Video Game, Realistic Versions. To trap the ghost, Peter has Laura activate the Super Slammer Trap - a more powerful trap introduced in the game, mounted on top of Ecto.
-Issue #13
Ghost Shark is based on the unused character from Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Realistic Versions), who killed Pappy Sargassi.
The cover is from the Rookie's perspective like in Ghostbusters: The Video Game
We finally meet the Rookie. It's revealed he's leading a franchise in Chicago. This was one of the locations offered to him at the end of the game. Winston calls him by one of his nicknames "Youngblood" that comes up during levels. He kept his defunct experimental pack as a souvenir but it only functions as a regular pack currently.
The Janosz segment has a couple Sanctum of Slime nods. Ismael, one of the main villains from Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, is painting the mural that later becomes the portal to Dumazu's realm. He was revealed to be Janosz' roommate at the start of the game. Above Ismael's mural are two photos of a shard of the Relic of Nilhe and one of the scepter held by the Cult of Dumazu leader in the opening cut scene. Loretta and the two attendants from the opening cut scene also appear. They tended to Janosz and Ismael.

At the end, behind Possessed Janosz are letters from the Gozerian Alphabet seen in Ghostbusters: The Video Game. This was the alphabet in Gozerian language. Basically used for spells by the Cult of Gozer. Here, translated they read, "Third Minion Returns Idulnas"
