Helle everyone

I recently finished modding a life-size Spirit pack, so now I need a ghost trap!

While I'd love one of the Haslab Two in a Box, I missed the crowdfunding last year so it's unlikely I'll be able to pick one up for a reasonable price, so now I'm thinking about buying and then modding Spirit's ghost trap as they look pretty reasonable.

However, if there's one thing I learned from Spirit's proton pack its that there are quite a few inaccuracies, so how accurate is their ghost trap?

I'm not very familiar with it, and I'm not expecting perfection given that it's only around £50, but are there any areas that stand out as being very different to the films? Like the cyclotron etc does on the proton pack?

Also I'm pretty new to this forum so if anyone can give any guidance on doing this or recommend any previous posts, that would be appreciated.

If you're going for screen accuracy... it ain't the way to go. the seam between the two halves of the shell is blatantly obvious and it's missing key parts (knobs, etc) for accuracy, i'd recommend looking into something 3d printed, but for a super budget project, go for it! I modded up one and it looks great, but mine was influenced by afterlife's pack mods and gbtvg's trap mods, so it's a far cry from screen accurate.

Thank you, that's really helpful!

Yeah I didn't think it would be terribly screen accurate, but I've done some more research and there seems to be a few sellers on eBay or Etsy selling upgrade kits to replace some of the switches and resistors etc.

This guy did a really good video on customising his:

Still considering it, but I'd like a working foot pedal as well which I can already tell is going to be tricky!

There is a post here recently that is a conversion kit for the spirit to walmart trap electronics (adding door motors, etc.)
Keep your eyes peeled for updates on that.

Thanks!

I didn't know that Walmart did one too, is it this one?

From what I can see, that looks exactly the same as the Spirit one, so they're probably sourcing from the same manufacturer:

One inaccuracy I have noticed about both of them is that, with a screen accurate one like the Haslab, there's a silver panel on the front, but on these two that area is black. Might need to work out how I can make that work better.

Spongeface has a kit on his ebay.

No. That's also a spirit trap. The walmart trap is no longer offered.

I heard in terms of size the Spirit/Wallmart traps are actually the most accurate compared to GB1 (in length).

The Matty is based on the GB2 stunt trap held by Egon when entering the jewelery shop (much smaller than the GB1 size trap used in the courtroom), and the Haslab Two in the Box appears the same size as the Matty (though more accurate). Hasbro on top Matty on bottom.

Is that true?

Does anyone have a pic of the spirit and Matty together?

Do you have a link for this kit? I've looked on eBay and can't find anything for this or Spongeface?

Also, has anyone replaced the sides on the Spirit trap with actual aluminium?

I'd like to make those parts look as realistic as possible, but it looks like they're moulded so probably not possible.

Perhaps covering them with aluminium plates?

Or spray painting them? Can anyone recommend a very realistic aluminium/silver/chrome spray paint? One that looks like realistic metal, not just normal silver?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/ghostlab42 that's Spongeface's ebay storefront.

Regarding side plates, some folk paint them, some use thin aluminium sheets over the top of the existing plates. The real props were aluminium. The silver front panel you refer too was also aluminium.
