I always thought it'd be cool to make one out of a '59 Cadillac Limo. You see tons of them online for sale for really low prices but hardly ever any hearses or ambulances. It'd be a cool alternative.

Lots of people use Ford Taurus or Chevy Caprice station wagons.

If you got the money... Go with a dodge magnum, that would be a kick ASS ecto 1, as well as powerful AND YES even fuel-efficient.

has the right look if i liked hummers:P but not my choice there so.

Like someone said before any station wagon from 50's-70's would fit well, even the 80's. Someone told me about an idea they had for one using an El Camino (80's) with a camper shell on the back. Granted it is only 2 seater.

I'd like to see that.

They would be a great Modern day equivalent.

One time I was so close to buying a white chevy caprice wagon in Illinois but when i saw it for real the interior was great but the exterior sucked. The right blinker was missing, the antenna was being held in by a screwdriver, the paint was peeling, and it was, at one time, an American Taxi. So the miles were probably sky high. Anyway i spent the money on GB props and I have no regret whatsoever. I'm still looking for a white caprice wagon though.

I actually thought of an ectomagnum before thinking up the ectostang. It just kinda... fits..

I think it would just look like an updated version of an old station wagon version.

I would do it in Black.. before White again.

Plus that white is pretty icky.. off white?? They need bright white if anything..

That'd probably actually be pretty cool. Especially if it was done with the purple strobe like the original design of the car instead of trying to make it like the original, which would end up looking a little goofy, i think.

From what was said on the GB DVD, the Ecto-1 was originally supposed to be black but because its first scene in the film takes place at night, it was decided the car should be white.

...or something like that.

Robo is right, the main reason the went to the white and red was because most of the early scenes where night or kind of a gray looking afternoon. So the details be hard to capture.

Plus also I hate Purple, so imagine how annoying purple strobes be:P

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of purple, either, but a while ago there was this 3D drawing of the original black design on ghostbusters.net or somewhere and it had the purple strobes and I thought it really looked badass.

I want to get a caprice wagon, preferably white, for an Ecto conversion. If anyone knows where I can find a fairly inexpensive one, Please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Any idea where this Hummer pic was from before the Photoshop? I'm trying to find this exact hummer.

(Yes I realize this is extremely old. But I figured I would ask!)

Guyver hasn't posted on the forum in 13 years. Even if he did, there's no guarantee he ever knew who owned the white Humvee back in the day.

Being it's from 2006, and with multiple Hummers in the lot, I have to say it could very likely be from Lynch Hummer. They were the largest dealer in the US for many years. They are no longer a Hummer dealer as GM stopped making Hummer years ago.

Yeesh, the 2025 Humvee just doesn't hold a candle to how cool the 1985 model looked. It's kinda like (though not quite as bad) as the 2010 redesign of the Daleks, too smooth and plasticy, and generally lacking the charm of the original.
