Hey, I'm going to be going to a con in a few weeks, and am flying from Canada to the US, has anyone flown with one who can chime in with what to expect, and if you managed to have it as a carry on, how did it go? I'm hoping to keep it with me as I've had certain airlines handle stuff roughly enough to break previous convention props.

I've seen the suggestion to have a picture and note with it, and have one printed of the scene with the hotel manager and the smoking trap.

It might be safer to leave it at home.

There's a famous story (I forget if it's fake or true, it's a bit of a legend now) about a person who tried to take a Proton Pack replica onto a flight with them to America, and it ended up causing a security incident at their destination airport because the TSA agents thought it was a bomb.

As I said, I forget if the story is legit or an urban legend, but in these uncertain and unpredictable times it might be safer to go without the Trap at the con just in case someone in airport security in the United States doesn't recognise it as a prop replica from Ghostbusters.

I appreciate you want to have it as part of your gear for the convention, and not having it would be disappointing... But it may be better to err on the side of caution, rather than risk something as expensive and as hard to replace as the HasLab Trap.

Not a trap but I didn't have any trouble bringing back my droids from Galaxy's Edge. Of course, I'm sure between California and Florida the TSA scans about a thousand droids per day. The trap is considered a toy. My lightsaber stand went through with no issue.

But if you're bound and determined to bring it with you, I'd call your hotel ahead of time and see about shipping your Trap to the hotel you're staying in. You can always contact the TSA ahead of time about bringing movie props with you.

If you are traveling with props I would suggest getting a case like this:I use them for all of my props.If you show them they are non functional props you usually don't get hassled.

Well, I've decided to go ahead and take it with me, I mean really why buy something to just sit on my shelf and look pretty?

I've taken hawkbatsquadron's advice on the case, timeware's advice on contacting the TSA via email (they only seemed to focus on batteries for some reason, guess they don't care and the x ray can tell the difference between simple electronics and things that can't fly), and am putting the trap/pke meter/ the pedal 11 pin relay in the case with a big screenshot from the movie and a letter underneath explaining that its an expensive/hard to replace movie prop, with my contact information, in a checked bag (along with some other stuff that I'm sure they are going to go through). In my carry on I have the pedal/hose in with some radio stuff, so that's 100% going to be gone through.

I'm sure it will all go over well, and I'll be sure to report back with how it went in approximately 16 hours, so that if things work out others can feel assured, and if not, a valuable lesson will be learned.

Update, absolutely nothing happened, don't think they even looked in my bag.
