Got a few of them for Christmas. It's going to be a while before I can tackle them. I found a very helpful tutorial on how to generate your own images and using bricklink to order the necessary lego's to do your own images.

You could see if the backing plates are being sold on sites like BrickLink or BrickOwl... If they are you could buy them, and then design your own LEGO Art.
